WHAT: Monthly and Bi-weekly meetings for playwrights of all experience levels.

WHY: Dramatists need producers. Producers need dramatists. Join us in creating a core group of writers and producers who are dedicated to creating new and interesting work.

WHEN: Two meetings per month, attend one or both.

1st Sundays--
--Skills Lab (starting June 2nd), 12:00-2:00pm
Skills. Once monthly meeting dedicated to skills development and sharing writing exercises.

3rd Sundays --
--PiD (starting June 16th), 12:00-2:00pm
Projects in Development (PiD). Second monthly meeting dedicated to sharing and discussing new projects in development. Intended for serious playwrights developing full length plays.

HOW:
  • For the Skills Lab meetings, a writing prompt will be sent to participants beforehand. Attendees should arrive with 1-10 pages of dialogue based on the prompt. After the group reads everyone''s work out loud, an established playwright will lead a discussion about aspects of the playwright''s craft.

Come in prepared with your story statement. Create a situation, a character, and a choice. Begin to flesh out the situation and the character as much as possible so as to make the decision easier to define for the character. Next session we will discuss the statements

  • The PiD (projects in development) meeting is a monthly workshop for developing new plays. Playwrights should arrive with enough copies of their script-in-progress to distribute among readers. Works completed through this process will be considered for production by theatre.unmasked.

theatre.unmasked has a bi-weekly script development group consisting of writers and actors from the New England area.  The group meets to share and discuss new plays or works in progress in a confidential and creative atmosphere.  From time to time invited guests will be present to talk about their area of expertise, including actors, directors and playwrights.  They will also be available to offer feedback and development ideas for any work presented during the session.
